PROCEEDINGS:

            Vide reference (1) cited above, Board had accorded approval for engagement of 977 trade apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 in various system/circles as assigned by the Director of Employment and Training and State Apprenticeship Advisor/Chepauk Chennai.

 

            Now the Director of Employment and Training /Guindy /Chennai has requested to engage ITI trade Apprentices in TANGEDCO vide reference (3) cited.

 

            These ITI apprentices can be trained in the areas like metering, Billing, Collection, etc.,

            In view of the above, it is suggested that totally 2000 numbers of ITI Apprentices may be engaged for the year 2011-2012. In consulting with Regional Joint Director of Training necessary engagement of Trade Apprentices may be worked out by the Superintending Engineers concerned.

            After careful consideration, approval is hereby accorded to engage 2000 number of ITI Apprentices in the trade of Electrician & Wireman by the Superintending Engineer of Distribution Circle by incurring an expenditure of Rs.4,72,80,000/- (Rupees Four Crores, Seventy two lakhs and eighty thousand only) in Corporation, Municipalities and O&M Sections.

            The Superintending Engineers are requested to engage 50 Trade apprentices per circle with (totally two apprentices in the trade of Electrician/Wireman per Operation & Maintenance Section) mostly in Corporation, Municipalities etc., under their jurisdiction and the apprentices are to be imparted training in the areas like Metering, Billing, Collection etc.,

 

            The Superintending Engineers are requested to make additional budget provision this year on account of the sanction of apprentices.

 

            The suspend amount payable to the apprentices is Rs.1,970/- per notification of Ministry of Labour and Employment /Govt of India/New Delhi No.GSR 228(E) published on 23.3.2011.

            The expenditure is debitable to A/c Head 75 – Employees Cost 75-170 Salaries – Apprentices.
